Wild Fever the first book in Donna Grant’s new Chiasson series has a promising beginning to what I believe will be a great series of hot novellas. Readers are introduced to the sexy men of the Chiasson family. They are following in the footsteps of several generations of hunters. This family has hunted the monsters that many believe are just things that go bump in the night. Trust this Louisiana girl when I say there are plenty of things that go bump in the night down on the bayou.There is something from the past currently hunting prey in the bayou and it is claiming those associated with the Chiasson’s. Vincent and his three brothers are hunting an enigma that seems to just disappear right before their eyes. The fact that it targets the recently returned Olivia has Vincent wondering just how this being knows so much about him and his brothers. Vincent also can’t help but wonder just how much Olivia know about what his family does with their hunting skills.
Olivia left Lyons Point nine years ago and never looked back. Circumstances out of her control have forced her to return home. She’s not happy about the situation but she is looking forward to going back to the home of her beloved grandmother. Her past crush Vincent showing up to protect her when an unknown being threatens her harm is just lagniappe to her homecoming.
While there are some paranormal elements to the Chiasson series I would not call them paranormal romance. The main characters that are falling in love are human. These humans just happen to be protecting the residents of their parish from the paranormal elements that threaten to cause the good humans harm.

I haven’t read many supernatural books, but they are growing on me. It’s entertaining seeing the sources of good and evil battle one another. The creativity used was great! The chemistry between the two main characters, Vincent and Olivia, was intense! Vincent’s protective, alpha personality made him so desirable! I enjoyed reading about the flame between them rekindling from both of their points of view. I loved watching the four brothers interact with one another. Their family bond was strong in facing the supernatural creatures. It was great seeing the story unfold with all of the connections that were discovered. I’m more of a fan of longer books. I seem to end up wanting more with shorter stories. I’m still glad I read it, though! It was a difficult book to put down!
When I bought this book I admit bieng somewhat hesitant. I have ( very sadly) had a few unpleasant experiences reading books that are centered in this area. They usually turn out to be softbporn for some unfortunate reason. Thankfully this book does not fall into that catagory. It is truly a great and fun read that caught and held my attention to the point that I forgot I was reading. For me I can't think of a better praise for a story than that. The secondary characters are a delight to read and with just this book the reader gets a good glimpse of each ones personality. They are brothers with a uniquely strong bond to eachothervand those they call thier own. The plot is unique as are the characters. I am all ready eagerly awaiting the next book in this series!

Wild Fever starts out fast paced with the Chiasson brothers deep in the bayous of Louisiana, hunting the newest creature that is preying on the innocent people of the small Cajun town, your get to meet our new heroes Vincent and his three brothers Lincoln, Christian and Beau. You will also get to meet Olivia Breaux, who grew up in the same Cajun town as the Chiasson Brothers but moved away 9 years ago, and now is back home, she carries secrets of her own and the reasons why she came home, she soon finds out her small town has secrets of its own, and you will soon find out how she gets wrapped up in it all, including the sexy Vincent Chiasson himself.
Donna Grant did a wonderful job in these characters and how she developed them, has made me wanna know more about the Brothers, also I loved how she is expanding her writing. I will always be in love with her dark warriors but I am thrilled on learning to love the Chiasson Brothers and the bayou of Louisiana.
This is a novella, so it's fairly short and there was room for more to this story so I'm holding on until the rest of the Books in this wonderful new series.
The Chiassons are hereditary hunters who keep their bayou town safe from supernatural evil. Vincent Chiasson, scarred emotionally from the brutality of his parents' deaths, has decided that his brothers can carry on the family name because he is unwilling to risk a wife and children to the life he was born into. But when a monster starts targeting women in his town and when the only woman he's ever loved returns home only to be caught in the crossfires, he's protective instincts battle with his need to keep his emotional distance.
I really thought that the framework for this story was good, and there were some interesting conflicts for both Vincent and Olivia (who is looking a possible jail time for a lover's crimes.) However, at around 132 pages, the story is just too short to take much in the way of advantage of that the setup, and we just get the peril for Olivia, some smex and a quick resolution. But if I judge it against the measure I'd use for a story in an anthology (and take into account that I got this as a .99 cheapie) I'd give it a 'pretty good' for the set up even though the HEA comes just a little to easily for Olivia and Vincent who had 'wanted' each other years ago before Olivia had left town but never acted on it - I'd have needed a little more actual history between the pair to make the HEA completely work for me in such a short space.
Still, 'pretty good' won't stop me from checking out Vincent's brothers' (and sister's?) stories.
